The Capital Area Center for Independent Living is a nonprofit, self-help organization that provides a range of services to support people with disabilities to live independently in our Capital Area community.
Magic/JAWS Computer Training
Zoom Text/Magic and Jaws is a practical one on one computer screen reading/magnification training program designed for people who are visually impaired/blind used in tandem with specific computer programs and applications.
Hiring a Personal Assistant
This program is meant for people with disabilities needing to hire a personal assistant and their family or friends that may be providing personal care.
"Count Me In" Puppets!
The puppets are children with disabilities. They help people to understand and be more comfortable with people with disabilities. They are available to come to your school or function to present a disability awareness program called "Count Me In."
CACIL Academy: Skills for Life and Employment
This curriculum involves working with individuals to address issues such as inexperience with the interpersonal and social requirements necessary to function in the world today.
Options for Community Living
We at CACIL work in partnership with nursing home residents who are Medicaid eligible and want to move into the community. Our goal is to assist in acquiring what is needed to live independently.
