Today, the challenges that CACIL faces are many. Sixteen percent of the persons in this four county area have disabilities. The demand for our services continues to rise while public dollars steadily diminish. Between cuts in state and local funding and the downturn in the economy, CACIL has lost some of it's vital funding.

CACIL is working harder than ever to ensure that physical and attitudinal barriers are removed. As part of a network that represents 1.9M persons with disabilities in Michigan, our strong voice and hard hitting systems advocacy is helping to create much needed reforms in the Michigan community. Transportation, housing, assistive technology and long term care are just some of the systems in which we are currently focusing our efforts.
